Genebre Float Valve Type 2856
The Genebre 2856 is a mechanical float valve constructed from AISI 316 stainless steel, designed for level control in water storage tanks. Flow is mechanically shut off via the float and lever arm, without the use of electrical sensors, PLCs, or actuators. The technical datasheet specifies WRAS approval for potable water applications.

Dimensions and Flow Rates
Available sizes range from 3/8" to 4" (DN 10 to DN 100). Manufacturer flow tables specify l/h at 1–10 bar differential pressure. For reference, the 2856 04 1/2" delivers 2,829–8,938 l/h, while the 2856 12 4" delivers 92,231–291,714 l/h, depending on pressure differential.
Suitable Media and Applications
Primary use is for filling and level control in clean or potable water tanks. For process water or chemically affected liquids, compatibility with AISI 316 and silicone must be verified.
Typical applications:
- potable water storage tanks
- industrial auxiliary water tanks
- tank filling without electrical automation
- applications requiring stainless float valves over brass
Selection and Maintenance
Selection is based on DN, available pressure, required filling flow, float diameter, and available movement space. The silicone seat is critical for tightness and should be inspected in water with salts, suspended solids, or scaling risk.
FAQ
When to select threaded vs flanged version?
Threaded connections are used up to DN 65. For DN 80 and DN 100, the series uses EN 1092 PN 10/16 flanges.
Is the float always included?
The 2856 valve is combined with Genebre 2852 floats, with float diameters from 90 to 400 mm depending on DN.
