KITO G 13.1 N – Liquid Line Flame Arrester

The KITO® FL/EO-…-IIB3 is a unidirectional in-line flame arrester designed for installation in filling pipelines outside storage tanks containing flammable liquids. Certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4, it is intended to prevent flame transmission from a detonation event towards the tank side.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Installation position: vertical only
  • Connected piping DN must be equal to or less than the DN of the flange.

The body must remain permanently filled with the stored liquid up to the level of the connection flanges. G 13.1 N features a hexagonal drain plug for liquid removal during maintenance or line isolation.

Dimensions, Pressure, and Connections

Available in DN 25 to DN 200. Pressure classes: PN 40 for DN 25–40, PN 16 for DN 50–150, PN 10 for DN 200. Standard flange: EN 1092-1 Form A; optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Size Selection

Selection should be based on DN, protection direction, explosion group, temperature, liquid compatibility, and allowable pressure drop. Manufacturer flow/Δp curves are determined with water per DIN EN 60534 at 15 °C; correction is required for liquids of different density.

Can it be installed horizontally?
No. Approved installation is vertical only.

Is group IIC covered?
No. Certification is limited to IIB3.

Description

KITO® FL/EO-…-IIB3

  • As inline armature, detonation-proof and flameproof, used for installation in filling pipes outside from tanks in which inflammable liquids are stored.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIA1 to IIB3 with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • It is only allowed to install pipes of nominal widths ≤ than the nomi-nal widths of the flange.
  • Mounting position is perpendicular.
  • The body of the housing has to be permanently filled with the storage liquid up to the height of the connecting flanges.
  • Equipped with a hexagon head pipe plug for emptying the liquid.
