KITO G 13.0 N – Inline Liquid Seal Flame Arrester

The KITO® FL/E-…-IIB3 (wf) is a unidirectional inline flame arrester designed for filling and suction lines outside tanks containing flammable liquids. The device operates with the body permanently filled with the stored liquid up to the flange level, maintaining a liquid seal to prevent flame transmission.

Operating Limits

  • Approval: Detonation flame arrester type 4
  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Installation: Vertical orientation
  • Connection piping DN must not exceed the arrester flange DN.

Dimensions and Flow Rates

Available sizes: DN 25 to DN 200. Pressure classes: PN 40 (DN 25–40), PN 16 (DN 50–150), PN 10 (DN 200). Maximum suction flow rate V max: 30 to 1020 m³/h. Exceeding this may compromise the liquid seal.

Materials and Connections

Standard construction: carbon steel body, cast steel cover (1.0619), Viton O-ring, fully replaceable KITO element. Optional: stainless steel body (1.4571), cover (1.4408), PTFE O-ring, KITO mesh (1.4571). Flanged connections per EN 1092-1 Form A or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Selection Criteria

Selection based on DN, explosion group, temperature, suction flow, liquid density, and allowable pressure drop. Flow curves per DIN EN 60534 (water, 15 °C); correction required for different media densities.

FAQ

Can it operate dry?
No. The body must remain filled to the flanges.

Is IIC group covered?
No, approval is up to IIB3 only.

  • As inline armature, detonation-proof and flameproof, used for installation in filling and suction pipes outside from tanks in which inflammable liquids are stored.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all materials of the Explosion group IIA1 to IIB3 with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Equipped with a safety device against complete emptying which is constructed as flame arrester element in order to prevent the suction of sealing liquid.
  • It is only allowed to install pipe of nominal widths ≤ than the nominal widths of the flange. Mounting position is perpendicular.
  • The body of the housing has to be permanently filled with the storage liquid up to the height of the connecting flanges.
  • Suction rate V max specified in above table may not be exceeded.
