KITO G 25.1 N – Bidirectional In-line Detonation Flame Arrester IIC

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIC-…/…-X25 is a bidirectional in-line detonation flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and process equipment against stable detonation in piping systems conveying flammable gases or vapors of flammable liquids. Tested as a detonation flame arrester type 4, it is suitable for installations where ignition may originate from either side of the pipeline.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIC
  • MESG: < 0.5 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.1 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 250 °C
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Protection: bidirectional against detonation transmission

Thermal Monitoring

Variants -T and -TT are equipped with one or two PT100 sensors. With a single sensor, installation should be on the body side where fire risk is anticipated. Dual PT100s enable monitoring on both sides for short-term combustion. PT100 is intended for alarm or interlock, not as an actuator.

Dimensions and Connections

G 25.1 N is available as NG 100, with connections DN 40 PN 40 or DN 50 PN 16. Optional flanges per ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF are available; standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1.

Materials of Construction

  • Body: cast steel 1.0619 or cast stainless 1.4408
  • Gasket: graphite
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell and mesh: stainless 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: A2
  • PT100: connection 3/8", material 1.4571

Application Selection

Compared to G 25 N, G 25.1 N is a reduced diameter version for group IIC, with increased temperature limit 250 °C but lower operating pressure 1.1 bar abs. Selection must consider MESG, pressure, temperature, flow, pressure drop, gas density, and PT100 requirement. Flow curves are based on air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K.

Description

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIC-…/…-X25

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIC-…/…-X25-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIC with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) < 0.5 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.1 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 250 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The installation of the detonation flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • Provided with one or two temperature sensors (PT 100) the armature is certified against short time burning from one or both sides.
  • If only one thermal sensor is attached, it must be installed into that part of the body from which a fire is expected.
