KITO G 26 N – Bidirectional Inline Detonation Flame Arrester with Threaded Connection

The KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2 / -T / -TT is a bidirectional inline detonation flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and process equipment against stable detonation in piping systems conveying flammable gases or vapors of flammable liquids. Certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4, it is suitable for installation in both horizontal and vertical pipelines.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion Groups: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max Operating Pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max Operating Temperature: 60 °C
  • Endurance to Stabilized Burning: BT ≤ 30 min
  • Connection: Threaded G 1/8" to G 2"

Thermal Monitoring

Variants -T and -TT are equipped with PT100 temperature sensors. For stabilized burning detection, a sensor is required on each side exposed to potential flame. The PT100 is intended for monitoring (alarm or interlock) and not as an actuator.

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction includes a carbon steel body, HD 3822 gasket, fully replaceable KITO element, and stainless steel mesh 1.4310. Optional materials: body 1.4571, gasket PTFE, mesh 1.4571, bolts/nuts A4.

Application Selection

The G 26 N differs from flanged G 22–G 25 series by its threaded connection and smaller nominal sizes. Selection must consider explosion group, MESG, pressure, temperature, pressure drop, gas flow, and PT100 requirement. Flow curves are provided for air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K; correction is required for other gases.

Description

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2

KITO® RG-Det4-IIA-…-1.2-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 30.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a temperature sensor must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
