KITO G 24.6 N – Bidirectional In-line Detonation Flame Arrester

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIB-…/…-1.2 is a bidirectional in-line detonation flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and equipment against stable detonation in piping systems conveying flammable gases or vapors of flammable liquids. Tested and certified as detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIB
  • MESG: ≥ 0.5 mm
  • Max operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Protection: bidirectional, suitable where detonation risk exists from either side of the line.

Thermal Monitoring

Versions -T and -TT are equipped with one or two PT100 sensors. With a single sensor, installation is on the body side where fire is most likely. PT100 is for short-term combustion monitoring and interface with alarm or interlock; not for actuation.

Sizes, Connections, Materials

Range covers NG 65 to NG 500, with connections DN 25 to DN 250. DN 25–40: PN 40; DN 50–150: PN 16; DN 200–250: PN 10. Flanges per EN 1092-1 type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Construction materials:

  • Body: cast steel 1.0619 or cast stainless 1.4408
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell: galvanized steel up to NG 400 or stainless 1.4571 / 1.4581
  • Mesh: 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: galvanized steel or A2

Application Selection

G 24.6 N differs from G 24 IIB3 variants as it is rated for media up to IIB with MESG ≥ 0.5 mm. Selection must consider explosion group, MESG, DN, flow, pressure drop, gas density, temperature, operating pressure, and PT100 requirement. Flow curves are based on air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K.

Description

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIB-…/…-1.2

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIB-…/…-1.2-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIB with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.5 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The installation of the detonation flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • Provided with one or two temperature sensors (PT 100) the armature is certified against short time burning from one or both sides.
  • If only one thermal sensor is attached, it must be installed into that part of the body from which a fire is expected.
