KITO G 22.6 N – Bidirectional In-Line Detonation Flame Arrester

The KITO® EFA-Det4-IIA-…/…-1.2-X22 is a bidirectional in-line detonation flame arrester designed for the protection of vessels and equipment against stable detonation in pipelines conveying flammable gases or vapors of flammable liquids. Tested and certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max operating temperature: 220 °C
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Protection: bidirectional, suitable where ignition may originate from either side of the line

Thermal Monitoring

Variants -T and -TT include one or two PT100 temperature sensors. Single-sensor units monitor the body side with expected fire risk; dual-sensor units monitor both sides for short-duration combustion events.

Sizes and Connections

Available for NG 400 with DN 150 PN 16 or DN 200 PN 10 flanged connections. Flanges per EN 1092-1 type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Materials and Sealing

  • Body: cast steel 1.0619
  • Optional body: cast stainless 1.4408
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or graphite
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell: stainless 1.4581
  • Mesh: stainless 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: A2
  • PT100: 3/8" connection, material 1.4571

Application Selection

G 22.6 N is selected for gas or vapor lines up to group IIA where bidirectional detonation protection is required for larger diameters and temperatures up to 220 °C. Selection must consider MESG, pressure, temperature, DN, pressure drop, and PT100 requirement. Flow curves are provided for air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K); density correction is required for other gases.

FAQ

Description

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIA-…/…-1.2-X22

KITO® EFA-Det4-IIA-…/…-1.2-X22-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experi-mental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 220 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The installation of the detonation flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • Provided with one or two temperature sensors (PT 100) the armature is certified against short time burning from one or both sides.
  • If only one thermal sensor is attached, it must be installed into that part of the body from which a fire is expected.
