TORAFLEX S10 – Single Sphere Rubber Expansion Joint

The TORAFLEX S10 is a flanged, single-sphere rubber expansion joint designed for piping systems subject to vibration, noise, minor misalignment, or thermal movement. The elastomeric body is internally reinforced and connected via loose flanges. The design provides inherent sealing at the pipe end; additional flange gaskets are not required.

Technical Data

  • Nominal pressure: PN10 / PN16.
  • Connections: EN 1092-1 PN10, EN 1092-1 PN16, or ASME B16.5 Class 150.
  • Marking: EN 19.
  • Pressure testing: EN 12266-1.
  • Size range: DN32–DN600 (S10 standard), with variants up to DN1200 available.
  • Self-sealing elastomeric end profile; no additional flange gasket required.

Operating Limits

Maximum working pressure: 16 bar up to DN300, 10 bar for DN350–DN600, 7 bar for DN700–DN1200. With PTFE lining, limit is 7 bar. For vacuum applications, check suitability per DN and configuration; PTFE-lined version is not intended for vacuum service.

Elastomer Materials and Media Compatibility

  • EPDM: water, hot water, glycols, salts, alcohols, intermittent steam.
  • NBR: lubricants, fuels, oils, LPG, oily air, natural gas.
  • CR / Neoprene: water, various inorganic and organic media.
  • Viton: acids, hydrocarbons, chlorine, oils, ozone.
  • PTFE/EPDM: aggressive chemicals, solvents, alkalis, and salts in water.

Applications

Used in HVAC, pump stations, cooling circuits, industrial water, treatment plants, auxiliary marine systems, lube oil lines, and process circuits with compatible liquids or gases.

Variant Selection

S10 is selected for compact, single-sphere requirements. S20 (double sphere) allows greater axial, lateral, and angular movement. No actuator options; these are passive piping components.

Standards and Documentation

Comeval declaration of conformity covers S10, S15, S20, S30, S32 for PN7/PN16 and DN25–DN1200, referencing EN 1092-1 and EN 12266-1. Product is outside PED 2014/68/EU scope per Article 1.2(O). Legacy WRAS certificate expired July 2020; confirm current approval before potable water use.

Description

Rubber joints consisting of a flexible main shell made of synthetic rubber with inner reinforcements. Pipe connections by means of loose flanges. For absorbing vibrations and noise caused by equipment such as pumps, machinery, etc., or balancing thermal movements in rigid systems due to temperature changes, as well as balancing slight pipe works misalignments.

Rubber joints can withstand surge pressures and mitigate the effects caused by water hammers Specification of the range:

Diverse design combinations by materials of construction, nominal size range (DN25-DN1200), design pressure range (PN10-16), construction for vacuum service as an option, and other versions.

Other typical denominations: Flexible rubber joints, elastomeric joints, rubber expansion joints, rubber compensators

Applications: Water, HVAC, lubrication, compressed air, process, etc.
