Macoga MRV are rectangular metallic expansion joints featuring V-shaped convolutions and miter corners. Corners can be single or double mitered. Connection options include flanged ends or weld ends, depending on duct configuration and project requirements.

Operating Range

The MRU / MRW / MRV series is designed for rectangular ducts operating under low positive pressure or vacuum. Typical applications include ducting for flue gas, process gas, and air in power plants, chemical, petrochemical, and steel facilities. Each unit is custom-engineered, as rectangular ductwork does not follow standardized dimensions.

Movement and Anchoring

MRV expansion joints are unrestrained and do not absorb pressure thrust. System design must include main anchors, directional anchors, and alignment guides.

  • Primary use: axial movement
  • Lateral movement: limited, only with dual bellows arrangement
  • Angular movement: possible with special design
  • Pressure thrust: must be externally absorbed by the installation

Installation and Inspection

MRV joints are not intended for correcting duct misalignment. Prior to installation, verify nameplate data, convolution cleanliness, gaskets, guides, and anchors. Remove yellow transport bars before pressure testing. For hydrostatic tests, use chloride-free water.

Is an actuator required?
No. The joint operates passively, responding to thermal movement of the duct.

What is checked during maintenance?
Leakage, pressure loss, external corrosion, vibration, loose mechanical parts, and debris between convolutions.
