Adler FB8 Spherical Tank Bottom Valve

The Adler FB8 is a wafer-type, full bore ball valve designed for direct installation at tank bottoms. The valve features a tank-side flange one DN size larger than the nominal bore, enabling compact installation and direct flanged connection to the vessel. It is typically used at discharge points where minimal installation length and robust sealing are required.

FB8 vs FA8 Variant

The FA8 covers DN50 to DN100 with a 15° inclined stem. The FB8 range extends from DN40 to DN200, suitable for applications requiring larger nominal diameters or alternative tank flange geometries. Selection depends on vessel design and process requirements.

Manufactured to BS EN 12516-2, ANSI B16.34, and ISO 14313. On request: PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU, fire-safe ISO 10497 / API 607, cryogenic ISO 28921, ISO 15848 class A for fugitive emissions, and SIL 3 capable for automated valves.

Applications

Used in storage tanks, reactors, mixing vessels, and chemical or industrial liquid discharge lines compatible with 316/316L stainless steel and PTFE seat materials. For media with solids, high viscosity, or crystallization risk, cavity cleaning provisions should be considered.

Automation

ISO 5211 flange allows mounting of pneumatic (single/double acting), electric actuators, manual gearboxes, and positioners. Actuator selection is based on required torque, pressure, cycle frequency, and fail-safe position (fail-open/fail-close).
