AWS 915 – Dual Plate Check Valve
The AWS 915 is a dual plate check valve designed for installation between flanges. The two plates open when flow force exceeds the spring closing force and close automatically upon pump shutdown or reverse flow. No actuator is required.
Technical Data
- Sizes: DN50–DN900 / 2"–36"
- Flange compatibility: PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40 and Class 150
- Face-to-face: DIN EN 558 Series 16 or API 594
- Temperature range: -10°C to +200°C, depending on seat material
- Seat materials: NBR, EPDM, FKM
- Body materials: EN-GJS-400-15, 1.4408, 1.4469 Superduplex, C954 aluminium bronze
Operating Pressure
Flange rating alone is not sufficient for valve selection. For DIN EN 558 face-to-face, allowable pressure is up to 16 bar for DN50–DN250 and 10 bar for DN300–DN900. For API 594 face-to-face, up to 20 bar. Maximum allowable pressure depends on temperature, DN, body and seat material.
Applications
Used in HVAC, water and wastewater networks, industrial piping, shipbuilding, refineries, and chemical plants. Suitable for liquids and gases in PED Groups 1 and 2. Not recommended for media containing solid particles.
Installation
Requires clean piping, correct centering, and flow direction as per nameplate. Manufacturer recommends 5×DN straight pipe upstream and downstream of the valve and avoiding direct mounting to pump flanges. In horizontal lines, shafts must be vertical; for downward vertical flow, suitability must be verified.
Standards / Certifications
Pressure and leakage tests per EN 12266-1 and API 598. PED 2014/68/EU Declaration of Conformity, Module H, CE 0036, and DIN EN 16668 applied.
FAQ
Is maintenance required?
Classified as maintenance-free, but periodic operational and safety checks should be scheduled by the operator.
What does noise or disc flutter indicate?
Typically caused by low flow, insufficient straight pipe, or incorrect installation position.
