Valpres PN16 Series 72 Wafer Ball Valve
Wafer-pattern ball valve for installation between PN16 flanges. The Series 72 covers DN25 to DN100 and uses a compact body with short face-to-face length for installations where spool length is limited.
Variants
- 723000: A351 CF8M stainless steel body for compatible corrosive or utility services.
- 724000: A352 LCB carbon steel body for non-corrosive industrial fluids and low-temperature carbon steel piping systems.
- 723004 / 724005: V-ball versions C1, C2 and C3 for a more defined flow characteristic than a standard full-port isolation ball.
Technical Data
- Pressure rating: PN16.
- Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C.
- V-ball versions: up to +180°C.
- Vacuum capability: 10⁻³ torr.
- Seats: TFM-MPTFE; RPTFE on V-ball versions.
- Body seat / stem seat: PTFE.
- O-rings: FKM.
- Stem: A479 TP316 / 17-4PH.
- ANSI Class 150 versions available: 723100 / 724100.
Standards and Certifications
ATEX and SIL 3 executions are available where required by hazardous area classification or safety instrumented function assessment. Detailed design and rating data shall be checked against Valpres datasheets 723000, 723004, 724000 and 724005.
Suitable Media and Applications
- Water, compressed air, neutral gases and general utility fluids.
- Auxiliary process networks where CF8M or LCB body material is compatible with the medium.
- Services compatible with PTFE/TFM/RPTFE seats and FKM elastomers.
- HVAC, industrial water circuits, air headers, skid packages and compact piping assemblies.
Selection Logic
Use the standard 723000 or 724000 versions for on/off isolation where tight shutoff, compact installation length and PN16 flange compatibility are the main requirements. Select CF8M for stainless piping or media requiring improved corrosion resistance; select LCB where carbon steel construction is acceptable.
Use the V-ball versions when the valve is expected to provide a more progressive change in flow. These versions are more appropriate for automated positioning than a standard round-port ball, but final control suitability depends on pressure drop, cavitation risk, rangeability and actuator/positioner sizing.
Actuation and Operation
- Manual operation is typical for isolation duties.
- Automated on/off service can be specified with a compatible pneumatic or electric actuator package.
- V-ball versions may be used with modulating actuators and positioners when the process requires controlled flow variation.
Maintenance and Leakage Considerations
Soft seats provide shutoff performance dependent on seat material, pressure, temperature and media cleanliness. Abrasive solids, flashing or frequent throttling on standard ball versions can accelerate seat wear. Wafer valves normally require line isolation and depressurization before removal from the pipeline.
FAQ
- Is this valve for steam? Only if pressure, temperature and seat/elastomer compatibility are confirmed against the datasheet and the steam condition.
- Can it replace a control valve? Standard versions are for isolation. V-ball versions can be considered for limited control duty after hydraulic sizing.
- Which body material should be selected? CF8M for stainless/corrosion-resistant service; LCB for compatible carbon steel systems.
