Suitable Media and Operating Conditions
Typical services include process water, compressed air, inert gases, utility lines, vacuum lines and compatible chemical fluids. Final selection should verify pressure at the selected diameter, operating temperature, fluid compatibility with PTFE and FKM, and the required thread standard.
Applications
- Industrial utility distribution and isolation duties
- Compressed air and nitrogen manifolds
- Clean-area auxiliary piping with frequent external washdown
- Process skids requiring compact threaded isolation valves
- Maintenance isolation points where stainless external surfaces are preferred
Variant Comparison
The polished version is selected instead of the standard Inox-Val configuration when the installation environment requires an easier-to-clean external surface and a stainless steel handle. The pressure envelope and seat material limits remain key constraints; the valve is for on/off isolation, not continuous throttling.
Sealing and Leakage Considerations
PTFE seats provide broad chemical compatibility within the stated temperature range. FKM / Viton elastomers must be checked against the actual fluid, especially for steam, aggressive solvents, oxidizing chemicals or high-temperature cyclic service.
Actuation Options
The valve is supplied with a manual stainless steel lever. For automated isolation, specify a compatible actuated configuration or mounting arrangement with pneumatic or electric actuator, including torque check at differential pressure, cycle frequency and fail position requirements.
Standards and Certifications
TÜV certification and ATEX / fire-safe documentation may be available on request. Certification requirements should be stated at procurement stage, including valve size, service fluid, pressure class and installation zone classification.
FAQ
- Can it be used for vacuum? Yes, within the stated limit of 10⁻² torr, provided the sealing materials are compatible with the service.
- Is it suitable for throttling? No. It should be applied as an isolation valve; partially open operation may increase seat wear.
- Which thread type should be specified? BSP or NPT must match the piping standard to avoid leakage and assembly damage.
