Valpres 709H00 Ball Valve
The Valpres 709H00 is a two-piece stainless steel ball valve manufactured from ASTM A479 316/316L for welded installation in high-pressure process lines. It is used where threaded joints are not preferred due to leakage risk, vibration, temperature cycling, or plant specification requirements.

- ATEX execution for classified areas
- Fugitive emission tested execution according to ISO 15848-1
- Degreased version available for hydrogen service, subject to project cleanliness requirements
Typical Applications and Media
The 709H00 is suitable for hydrogen, process gases, fuels, steam, thermal fluids, and chemical services compatible with 316/316L stainless steel, PEEK, Graphoil, PTFE, and HNBR. Typical users include process plants, utility skids, hydrogen systems, fuel gas lines, pilot lines, and high-pressure auxiliary services.
Connection and Variant Selection
- Butt weld: selected for permanent welded piping with full-bore process continuity.
- Socket weld: used on smaller bore high-pressure pipework where socket welding is specified.
- Long butt weld: used when additional weld-end length is required to reduce heat transfer to the valve during installation.
Actuation and Operation
The valve may be used as a manually operated isolation valve or configured for pneumatic or electric actuation where cycling frequency, available torque, fail position, and area classification have been checked. For automated service, actuator sizing should consider differential pressure, seat material, temperature, and breakaway torque.
Valve Selection Notes
The 709H00 is selected when a welded stainless steel PN138 ball valve is required with a higher temperature capability than typical PTFE-seated designs. For hydrogen or low-emission service, the key checks are degreasing, stem sealing arrangement, ISO 15848 requirements, and compatibility of HNBR and PTFE with the operating envelope.
FAQ
- Is it suitable for steam? Yes, within the pressure-temperature limits and material compatibility of the seats and seals.
- Is it a control valve? No. It is primarily an on/off isolation valve, not a throttling valve.
- When is fire-safe execution required? It is normally specified for fuel gas, hydrocarbons, hydrogen, and other services where external fire exposure is part of the risk assessment.
