Valpres 703000 Ball Valve
The Valpres 703000 is a 2-piece stainless steel ball valve manufactured from ASTM A351 CF8M, with female threaded ends to ISO 7 Rp. It is used for on/off isolation of liquids and gases in industrial utility and process piping.

- Sizes: 1/2” to 3”
- Pressure rating: PN64 up to 2”; PN25 for 2 1/2” to 3”
- Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C
- Vacuum service: down to 10⁻² torr
- Body and end connection: ASTM A351 CF8M stainless steel
- Ball: ASTM A479 TP316 or ASTM A351 CF8M
- Stem: ASTM A479 TP316 or 17-4PH
- Seats and primary seals: PTFE
- O-rings: FKM
- Certifications: ATEX, SIL 3
Suitable Media
Applicable for water, compressed air, neutral gases, auxiliary process circuits and chemical fluids compatible with CF8M stainless steel, PTFE seats and FKM elastomers. Media compatibility must be checked for oxidising chemicals, solvents, acids, steam condensate and fluids containing suspended solids.
Typical Applications
- Isolation on industrial water and utility headers
- Compressed air and inert gas distribution
- Chemical dosing and transfer lines where threaded connections are acceptable
- Skid-mounted process equipment and maintenance bypasses
- Vacuum or low-pressure service within the stated pressure-temperature envelope
Selection Notes
The 703000 is selected where a stainless steel threaded ISO 7 Rp ball valve is required with PN64 rating in smaller sizes. For DN65 and DN80, the pressure class reduces to PN25 and this must be considered against design pressure, test pressure and temperature derating.
Variants and Configuration Points
- Pressure class differs by size: PN64 up to 2”, PN25 from 2 1/2” to 3”.
- Ball material may be TP316 or CF8M depending on execution.
- Stem material may be TP316 or 17-4PH depending on valve configuration.
- Standard sealing is PTFE with FKM O-rings; alternative sealing materials should be specified only after confirming chemical and temperature compatibility.
Actuation Considerations
The valve is commonly used as a manual isolation valve. If remote operation is required, confirm actuator mounting arrangement, operating torque, cycle frequency and fail position before specifying a pneumatic or electric actuator. For automated service, leakage class, stem sealing and maintenance access should be reviewed.
Maintenance and Leakage Considerations
PTFE seated ball valves are intended primarily for isolation, not throttling. Frequent partial opening can damage seats and increase leakage. For dirty fluids, flushing or upstream filtration may be required to reduce seat scoring. Threaded joints should be installed without imposing pipe stress on the valve body.
FAQ
- Can it be used on steam? Only if pressure, temperature and seal compatibility are confirmed for the specific steam condition.
- Is it suitable for gas service? Yes, for compatible neutral gases and compressed air within the stated ratings.
- What is the main limitation in larger sizes? The pressure rating changes to PN25 for 2 1/2” and 3”.
- Is it a control valve? No. It is an isolation ball valve and should not be selected for continuous modulating control.
