Ball Valve Venturi port - Type VE2 | ADLER

ADLER VE2 Venturi Port Ball Valve

Two-piece split-body ball valve with Venturi bore for flow isolation on flanged process lines. Typical flange executions include ANSI Class 150; PN16 can be specified where required by the piping class.

Technical Characteristics

  • Nominal sizes: DN40 to DN300
  • End connection: flanged, DIN or ANSI drilling
  • Body and trim materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A351 CF8M, ASTM A479 304/304L or 316/316L
  • Seat material: PTFE; reinforced PTFE available
  • Stem sealing: chevron packing; O-ring stem sealing available
  • Body/end connection: double sealing arrangement
  • Anti blow-out stem design
  • Antistatic device
  • Top mounting flange to ISO 5211 for actuator installation

Standards and Certifications

Design and construction references include EN 12516-2, ASME B16.34, EN 1759-1, ASME B16.5, ISO 14313, ANSI B16.10 and EN 558 basic series 3. Available executions include PED, ATEX, SIL 3, ISO 15848 Class A fugitive-emission design, fire-safe ISO 10497/API 607 and BS6755/API 607/API 6FA.

Operational Use

The Venturi bore reduces valve mass and cost compared with a full-bore valve of the same DN. It is normally selected for isolation duties where pigging, full-line internal diameter, or minimum pressure loss is not a process requirement.

  • Suitable media: water, air, process gases, fuels and industrial liquids compatible with PTFE and the selected metallurgy.
  • Typical service: on/off isolation, utility lines, fuel transfer, gas distribution headers and non-pigged process piping.
  • Temperature capability is governed mainly by seat, seal and O-ring selection; PTFE-seat service is typically checked against the project temperature and pressure envelope.

Options and Variants

  • PTFE or reinforced PTFE seats for different pressure, temperature and wear requirements
  • Stem extension or cryogenic extension for insulated pipework or low-temperature service
  • Degreasing for oxygen service according to ISO 23208
  • Oval hand lever or manual gearbox
  • Pneumatic or electric actuator
  • Pneumatic or electro-pneumatic positioner for automated service where partial-stroke or control feedback is required

Selection Notes

Use a Venturi port valve where reduced bore is acceptable and the line pressure drop can be tolerated. Select full bore instead when pigging, low head loss, solids passage or cleaning access through the bore is required.

FAQ

  • Is this a control valve? It is primarily an isolation ball valve. Modulating duty requires actuator and positioner review, including cavitation, velocity and seat wear.
  • Can it be automated? Yes. The ISO 5211 top flange permits pneumatic or electric actuator mounting.
  • What limits leakage and emissions? PTFE seats provide shut-off at the ball, while chevron stem packing and optional ISO 15848 Class A execution address stem emissions.
