Ball Valve 3 Pieces - UNIFLOW Fig. BV3 | Comeval

Comeval UNIFLOW Fig. BV3 Ball Valve

Three-piece floating ball valve with split body construction, manufactured in ASTM A351 CF8M stainless steel. The valve is intended for on/off isolation in process lines and auxiliary utility systems. Standard configuration is PN 63, PTFE seated, bidirectional, and manually operated by lever.

Construction

  • Body material: investment cast stainless steel ASTM A351 CF8M
  • Design: 3-piece split body, floating ball
  • Seats: PTFE
  • End connections: BSP, NPT, or ISO 228-1 threaded variants
  • Standard reference: DIN pressure classification
  • Size range: DN8 to DN100
  • Flow direction: bidirectional isolation service
  • Operation: lever as standard; actuation suitability depends on valve torque and mounting arrangement

Typical Applications

  • Water distribution and industrial utility water
  • HVAC secondary circuits and plant services
  • Lubrication and low-viscosity oil systems, subject to seal compatibility
  • Compressed air and inert gas distribution
  • General process isolation where CF8M and PTFE are compatible with the medium

Operating Conditions and Selection Notes

PN 63 defines the pressure class of the valve body; allowable pressure depends on size, temperature, seat material, and the manufacturer pressure-temperature chart. PTFE seats are normally selected for chemical resistance and low operating torque, but they are not suitable for all high-temperature, abrasive, or polymerising services.

For gas and compressed-air duty, leakage classification, stem sealing condition, and cycling frequency should be considered during valve selection and maintenance planning.

Variant Differences

  • BSP / ISO 228-1 threads are typically used for parallel threaded piping systems.
  • NPT threads are used where tapered threaded connections are specified.
  • Manual lever operation is suitable for local isolation; pneumatic or electric actuation requires confirmation of available mounting interface and break torque.
  • PTFE is the standard seating material; alternative seat or seal materials should be selected only after checking process temperature, pressure, and fluid compatibility.

Maintenance

The 3-piece construction allows access to the centre body for inspection of the seats, ball surface, body seals, and stem packing without replacing the complete valve assembly. Maintenance intervals should be based on medium, operating temperature, pressure cycling, and number of operations.

FAQ

Can it be used for steam? Only if the pressure-temperature limits and PTFE seat suitability are confirmed for the specific steam conditions.

Is it suitable for throttling? No. This is an isolation ball valve; prolonged partial opening can damage seats and ball surfaces.

Is it bidirectional? Yes, the floating ball construction is suitable for bidirectional shut-off within the specified operating limits.
