Vacuum Relief Valve with Flame Arrestor KITO D8N

The KITO VS/cont. D8N is a self-actuated vacuum relief valve designed for installation at the end of tank lines, vessels, and piping systems. It is used where air ingress is required to prevent unacceptable vacuum conditions, while simultaneously providing flame transmission protection in atmospheres containing flammable liquids.

Application Scope

Suitable for:

• storage tanks for flammable liquids,
• portable transport tanks,
• process vessels with potential vacuum formation,
• vent lines requiring controlled air intake under negative pressure.

Certified for explosion group IIB3 liquids with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm. Maximum operating temperature: 60 °C.

Construction and Materials

Available with threaded connections G 1”, G 1 ¼”, G 1 ½”, and G 2”. Body, flame arrestor element, mesh, and compression spring are manufactured from stainless steel 1.4571. Depending on size, seat and disc are PTFE or stainless steel 1.4571, with FEP or PTFE sealing.

Setting and Sizing

Vacuum setpoint range: 5–210 mbar. Sizing is based on:

• permissible tank vacuum,
• required incoming air flow,
• gas density,
• vent line pressure losses.

Flow curves refer to air at 1.29 kg/m³; correction factors are provided for other gas densities.

Type-tested per EN ISO 16852. Marked in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

No. Operation is mechanical via differential pressure and spring force.

Is this a pressure and vacuum valve?
No. This model is for vacuum relief only.
