Storage Tanks & Vessels Equipment
Tank storage equipment is used for pressure control, vacuum relief, venting, flame transmission protection, and local level indication on fixed roof tanks, aboveground storage tanks, process vessels, and storage systems for flammable or industrial liquids. Selection should be based on the stored medium, vapor pressure, operating temperature, filling and emptying rate, allowable overpressure, allowable vacuum, explosion group, MESG, nominal size (DN), connection type, and materials of construction.
Pressure relief valves limit overpressure caused by tank filling, thermal expansion, or changes in ambient conditions. KITO designs include pressure relief valves with an integrated flame arrester element, intended to discharge excess pressure while reducing unnecessary gas or vapor losses according to the valve set pressure. Available executions include DIN and flanged versions, pressure classes such as PN16 and PN40, and materials including 1.4571 stainless steel and carbon steel.
Vacuum relief valves provide controlled air or gas admission during tank emptying or cooling in order to prevent unacceptable vacuum conditions in the tank shell. For flammable liquids, explosion-protected versions with flame arrester are used, selected in accordance with the applicable explosion group and temperature classification.
Combined pressure/vacuum relief valves are applied where both outbreathing and inbreathing must be controlled within defined set points, typically in roof-mounted service. Inline versions are used where vent flow is routed to a vapor header, inert gas line, or gas treatment system. Visual level indicators are selected according to pressure rating, DIN or ANSI standard, connection arrangement, and material compatibility, with executions available from PN2.5 to PN25 and in ASME classes 300 and 600 lbs.
