KITO DS/M-IIB1 Pressure Relief Valve, Type C 9.9 N

The KITO DS/M-IIB1 C 9.9 N is a pressure relief valve for storage tanks, equipped with integrated end-of-line flame arrestor elements. Designed to protect tank breathing openings against deflagration and sustained burning, it simultaneously relieves hazardous overpressure. Installation in enclosed spaces is not permitted.

Application Range

Suitable for flammable liquids and vapors of explosion group IIB1, and for alcohols (e.g., ethanol, methanol) with additional testing/approval. Application limit: MESG ≥ 0.85 mm; maximum operating temperature 60 °C.

Typical installation locations:

  • storage tank roofs,
  • tank access covers,
  • breather lines,
  • in combination with a separate vacuum relief valve.

Sizes and Set Pressure Ranges

Available in DN 80, DN 100, DN 150, DN 200. Flanges: PN 16 for DN 80–150, PN 10 for DN 200. Optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF connection.

Set pressure ranges:

  • DN 80: 2–200 mbar
  • DN 100: 2–200 mbar
  • DN 150: 2–150 mbar
  • DN 200: 2.8–100 mbar

Higher set pressures require technical review by the manufacturer.

Materials and Sealing Options

Main construction:

  • body/cover: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571
  • BEH-3-80-IIB1 housing: cast steel 1.0619 or cast stainless 1.4408
  • seat and shaft: 1.4571
  • sealing: NBR, optional Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal
  • for set pressures ≥100 mbar: only PTFE or metal sealing

Flow Rates and Standards

Flow rates are specified for air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³) at 273 K, achieved with 40% accumulation above set pressure, per DIN 4119. Type tested to EN ISO 16852 and CE marked per ATEX 2014/34/EU for KITO BEH-3-80-IIB1 and KITO SK/K-IIB1 elements.

Description

KITO® DS/M-IIB1-…

  • As an end-of-line flame arrester element to protect vent openings of storage tanks.
  • Explosion and endurance burning proof for all inflammable liquids and vapors of explosion group IIB1 and also for alcohols with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.85 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • This device is not permitted to be installed in enclosed areas.
  • Installation on top of storage tanks, tank access covers or breather pipes.
  • The PRV allows the passage of hazardous excess pressure but will minimize the loss of gas/vapours depending on valve adjustment.
  • Usually mounted on the top of the tank in conjunction with a vacuum relief valve.
  • An explosion proof condensate drain is also available for this model at extra cost.
  • KITO® BEH-3-80-IIB1 with additional examination and approval, applicable also for alcohols (ethanol, methanol…)
