GESTRA Steam Traps for Universal Connector
GESTRA steam traps for universal/swivel connectors are compact stainless steel units designed to attach to a fixed piping connector with two bolts. This installation logic minimizes interventions in the piping: the steam trap unit can be replaced without cutting or disassembling the line.
Compatible Functional Units
In GESTRA TS 36 stations, the following units can be used:
- BK 36 A/7: thermostatic bimetallic.
- MK 36 A/71 – MK 36 A/72: thermostatic capsule.
- DK 36 A/7: thermodynamic.
- IB 16A-7: inverted bucket.
Universal Connector / TrapStation TS 36
The TrapStation TS 36 includes two isolation valves, a strainer, a blow-off valve, and a test valve. The inlet features a red handwheel and the outlet a blue one. The TS36-1 and TS36-2 versions differ in flow direction. The steam trap is not part of the basic supply and must be selected based on application.

Example Unit IB 16A-7
The IB 16A-7 is a stainless steel inverted bucket steam trap for universal connectors. Available with orifice for ΔPMX 4.8 / 8.6 / 17.2 / 27.6 bar, PMO 28 bar at 425 °C, and body 1.4306 / A240-304L.
Application Selection
Selection is based on steam pressure, backpressure, condensate flow, consumer type, required discharge behavior, and venting needs. Thermostatic or thermodynamic units are typically used for tracing and line drainage. For variable loads, the operating unit and available differential pressure are carefully considered.
FAQ
Why use a universal connector?
For standardized maintenance and steam trap replacement without piping intervention.
What should be specified in the order?
Steam pressure, backpressure, condensate flow, flow direction, DN, connection, and steam trap type.
