Valfonta 280 – Steam/Liquid Inline Heater for Piping Systems

The Valfonta 280 is a steam injector designed for direct heating of liquids flowing through pipelines. Steam enters via the upper flange, passes through small orifices in the nozzle, and forms steam jets that mix with the process liquid. This mixing increases the fluid temperature and, per technical documentation, can also raise the downstream pressure depending on process conditions.

Selection Criteria

Catalog flow rates are based on 4 bar saturated steam inlet, liquid at 1 bar and 15 °C, with final temperature 65–75 °C. Proper selection requires liquid flow rate, initial/final temperature, available steam pressure, downstream backpressure, and material compatibility with the process medium.

Applications

Used for water heating in barrel, tank, and drum washing, breweries, laundries, chemical plants, and pipeline systems requiring freeze protection or local temperature increase of process liquids.

Operation and Maintenance

No moving parts, actuator, or shut-off seat. Leakage class is not applicable as with control valves. Inspection points include flange integrity, nozzle cleanliness, scale deposits, and steam pressure stability.
