Valfonta 253 – Steam Reheater for Liquid Storage Tanks

The Valfonta 253 is a steam injector designed for direct heating of liquids in storage tanks. Saturated steam enters the nozzle, generating suction via the Venturi effect and drawing liquid through the reheater body. The resulting steam–liquid mixture is recirculated into the tank, promoting uniform temperature distribution and enhanced mixing.

• Maximum temperature: 200 °C.
• Thermal capacity: 50–500 kcal, calculated with saturated steam at 3 bar.
• Body materials per datasheet: nodular iron GGG40.3, bronze RG10, ASTM A351 CF3M.
• Nozzle materials: bronze RG10, ASTM A351 CF3M, or Monel.

Selection Criteria

Sizing should be based on thermal load, tank volume, available steam, initial and target temperatures, and backpressure in the recirculation line. For long piping runs, the datasheet recommends using a pipe diameter larger than the internal diameter of the reheater connections.

Typical Applications

Used in wash tanks, barrels, drums, breweries, sugar plants, laundries, chemical units, and pipelines with freeze risk. Suitable media include water and compatible process liquids that allow direct steam contact.

Operation and Maintenance

No moving parts or actuator. Key inspection points: nozzle condition, scale deposits, steam line drainage, and flange sealing. Not an isolation valve; no seat leakage class applies.
