NORIS Bauform 974 – Four-Way Flow Indicator
The NORIS 974 is a 4-way flow indicator featuring four flanged ports and glass observation plates on both sides. It is utilized for visual monitoring of flow and fill levels at branching points where straight or angular indicators are insufficient.
Operating Conditions
- Connection: Flanges DIN PN16 / PN25 / PN40
- Operating Pressure: 16 to 40 bar
- Operating Temperature: 150 °C or 280 °C
- Installation Position: Optional, with flow direction verification
- Size Range: DN15 to DN100
- DN125 to DN200: Available on request
Materials and Sealing
The body can be manufactured from weldable materials, in either carbon steel or stainless steel, according to project requirements. The glass plates are borosilicate glass DIN 7080 or soda-lime glass DIN 8902. Standard sealing is graphite, with alternative materials available based on fluid, temperature, or chemical compatibility.
Construction Options
Available with ANSI flanges, varying construction lengths, different nominal diameters at ports, butt weld ends, observation lighting, and safety sealing compatible with NORIS Bauform 885.
Applications
The 974 is selected for cross-type configurations, branches, or locations where operators need to locally verify fill levels, bubbles, flow presence, or color changes. Typical media include process water, condensate, gases, and chemical liquids compatible with the body material, glass, and gaskets.
Difference from NORIS 972
The 972 is a three-way indicator. The 974 features four ports and is chosen when piping requires a full 4-way arrangement instead of a T-type connection.
FAQ
Does it accept an actuator?
No. It is a passive visual monitoring indicator.
What should be specified in the order?
DN of each port, PN, body material, glass type, temperature, fluid, sealing, and need for ANSI, butt weld, lighting, or safety sealing.
