NORIS Type 972 – Three-Way Flow Indicator

The NORIS 972 is a flow indicator with three connections, designed for visual inspection of liquids and gases in pipelines. It is used when the observation point is at a branch or change in flow direction, requiring local confirmation of fluid presence, bubbles, filling, or color change. Installation can be horizontal or vertical, with flow direction control.

Materials and Sealing

The body is available in carbon steel or stainless steel. Covers are S235JRG2 / GS-C25 or WN 1.4408, depending on the version. Bolts are galvanized 4.6 / 5.6 or A4-70. Observation glasses are borosilicate per DIN 7080 or soda-lime per DIN 8902. Standard sealing is graphite, with other materials available as required by fluid or temperature.

Application Scope

Type 972 is selected for industrial lines requiring observation in T-type arrangements or at branching points. Typical media include process water, condensate, gases, auxiliary circuits, and chemical fluids compatible with body, glass, and gasket materials.

Difference from NORIS 920 and 880

The 880 is a straight-line indicator. The 920 is angular. The 972 covers triple connection, thus chosen when piping layout requires a third port, not simple straight or angular flow.

FAQ

Does it accept an actuator?
No. It is a passive visual inspection component. The electrical element pertains only to the observation light.
