NORIS Type 912 – High-Pressure Flow Indicator

The NORIS 912 is a dual-sided flow indicator designed for visual inspection of liquids and gases in horizontal or vertical pipelines. This series is tailored for high-pressure applications, with final dimensions dependent on nominal diameter and operating pressure.

Operating Conditions

• Operating Pressure: up to 160 bar
• Temperature with borosilicate glass: up to 280 °C
• Temperature with quartz glass: up to 500 °C
• Installation: horizontal or vertical
• DIN Connection: flanges up to PN160
• ANSI Connection: flanges up to 1500 lbs
• Alternative connections: butt weld ends or female-threaded

Materials and Construction

The technical sheet specifies that all weldable materials can be used. Material selection should be project-specific, based on pressure, temperature, fluid, corrosion, welding process, and certification requirements.

Application Scope

Type 912 is chosen for lines where standard PN16–PN40 indicators are insufficient. Typical applications include:

• high-pressure liquids and gases
• chemical processes
• high-temperature auxiliary networks
• lines requiring local flow confirmation
• applications needing DIN PN160 or ANSI 1500 lbs flanges

Difference from NORIS 880 / 887

The 880 and 887 series cover lower pressure classes. The 912 is used when design pressure reaches up to 160 bar or when piping specifications require ANSI 1500 lbs. Glass selection is critical: borosilicate for up to 280 °C, quartz glass for up to 500 °C.

Certificates and Options

Options include ANSI flanges, butt weld ends, heating jacket, and observation lighting. Certificates EN 10204 type 2.2 or 3.1 are optionally available. It does not accept actuators; it is a passive visual inspection component.
