ADCA STS are closed construction steam-water heat exchangers with a stainless steel shell and tube bundle. The basic STSV version is designed for vertical installation, while a horizontal arrangement STSH is available with different condensate head configurations.
Used in:
The arrangement can utilize vent steam from condensate tanks, where steam is directed to the shell and transfers heat to water or other compatible process fluids.
The tube bundle is AISI 316L / 1.4404. The tube sheet, heads, shell, inlets/outlets, and flanges are AISI 316 or AISI 316L, depending on the construction location. Connections are available flanged or threaded, according to EN or ASME.
The tubes are straight to facilitate cleaning. The use of low-fin tubes increases the external heat transfer surface compared to smooth tubes. An expansion bellows is provided in the shell to limit stress on the tube bundle from thermal expansion and contraction.
Sizing requires steam pressure and temperature, water flow or thermal load, inlet/outlet temperatures, and fluid compatibility with stainless materials. Power regulation is typically done with a control valve on the steam supply, suitable for the available pressure and required turndown.
