ADCA STH heat exchangers are designed for steam-to-water heating in horizontal installations. Steam flows through the tube bundle and condenses, while the process water circulates on the shell side, ensuring no mixing of the two fluids.
Typical applications include:
Suitable media include steam, water, hot condensate, and other fluids compatible with construction materials.
Two main versions are available:
The tube bundle is AISI 316L, featuring low-fin tubes for increased external surface area. The floating head in the tube bundle minimizes mechanical stresses from thermal expansion and contraction.
Connections can be flanged EN 1092-1 PN16, ASME B16.5 Class 150, or female threaded ISO 7 Rp / NPT. Maximum operating pressure is 16 bar, with derating based on temperature. Maximum operating temperature reaches 250 °C, with PMO for saturated steam at 13 bar.
Installation requires proper condensate removal, typically with a float-thermostatic steam trap. Y-type strainers at inlets, isolation valves, and free space on the tube side for bundle removal are recommended. A drop in thermal performance or outlet temperature may indicate fouling, poor water quality, or need for cleaning.
When to choose STH?
When steam-to-water heating is required and access to the tube bundle is crucial for inspection.
What information is needed for selection?
Steam pressure and temperature, water flow rate, inlet/outlet temperatures, and required thermal load.
