ADCA SC32 / SC132 – Sample Cooler

The ADCA SC32 and SC132 sample coolers are designed for cooling boiler water or steam samples prior to chemical analysis. Cooling prevents flashing of hot, pressurized samples, which can compromise measurement accuracy and present a burn hazard to operators.

Operation

The hot sample passes through a stainless steel coil immersed in a continuous flow of cooling water. Sample inlet is at the top and outlet at the bottom, ensuring self-draining of the sample line. Cooling water flow must be fully established before opening the sample valve.

Technical Specifications

  • Models: SC32 / SC132
  • Body and covers: AISI 304 / 1.4301
  • Coil: AISI 316L / 1.4404
  • Compression fittings: AISI 316Ti / 1.4571
  • Cooling water connection: 1/2” ISO 7 Rp or NPT
  • Sample connection: 8 mm O/D tube
  • Max body pressure: 20 bar at 120°C
  • Max coil pressure: 110 bar at 400°C or 90 bar at 450°C
  • Min operating temperature: -10°C
  • Design code: AD-Merkblatt

Performance and Dimensions

With cooling water at 1 m³/h, 15°C, typical sample flow is 30–60 kg/h with outlet temperature around 30°C. SC32: body height 420 mm, weight 3.9 kg. SC132: height 520 mm, weight 4.8 kg.

Installation

Install vertically with isolation valves on both sample and cooling water inlets. Cooling water outlet must discharge freely to drain, without restrictions or isolation valves. The coil must remain fully submerged during operation.

Maintenance

No routine maintenance required. Inspect for leakage at connections after commissioning, check for line cleanliness, coil fouling, and proper sample valve operation. Use clean sealing surfaces and new gaskets during reassembly.
