OMC DP5-B – Pneumatic Low ΔP Differential Pressure Transmitter

The DP5-B is a pneumatic differential pressure transmitter designed for instrument loops operating at 20–100 kPa, 0.2–1 bar, or 3–15 psi. It operates on a force-balance principle: the measuring unit receives differential pressure via a 5" capsule, while the transmission unit converts this force into a proportional pneumatic signal using a flapper-nozzle relay and feedback bellows.

Operating Range

  • Static pressure limit: 75 bar
  • Span: 1.2–7.5 kPa or 0.6–1.2 kPa with ultrafeedback
  • Range limits: -7.5 to +7.5 kPa
  • Accuracy: ±0.5% F.S.D.
  • Air supply: 135 kPa ±10
  • Air consumption at rest: 350 Nl/h
  • Ambient temperature: -40 to 120 °C
  • Enclosure protection: IP55 per IEC 529

Materials and Sealing

Body options: A216 WCC galvanized carbon steel or AISI 316L / A351 CF3M. Diaphragm: AISI 316L or Monel. Fill fluid: silicone oil or PFPE Galden. For oxygen service with Galden, temperature limits are -20 to 40 °C. Seals: PTFE or Viton.

Version Selection

Standard version covers 1.2–7.5 kPa span. The ultrafeedback variant is used for very low ΔP measurement (0.6–1.2 kPa), requiring attention to pressure surges, impulse lines, and zero stability. Zero elevation and zero suppression available for level applications with offset zero.

Typical Applications

  • Filter monitoring in air, gas, or liquids
  • Pressure drop measurement in heat exchangers
  • Level measurement in closed vessels with low hydrostatic ΔP
  • Pneumatic control loops in process units
  • Installations requiring ATEX 2014/34/EU, Gas Zone 1 / Dust Zone 21

FAQ

Does it use an electronic signal?
No. This is a purely pneumatic transmitter and requires instrument air.

When is the DP5-B selected?
When the application involves very low differential pressure and static pressure up to 75 bar.

Datasheet and documents

Description

The DP5-B works on the force balance principle and consists of two main units: The measuring unit which detects the differential pressure variation and consists of two forged bodies and a measuring capsule. The transmission unit converts the differential force applied to the measuring element into a proportional output pneumatic signal. The output pressure, generated by a flapper nozzle relay, feeds the feedback bellows with a rising pressure until the balance between bellows force and measuring element is reached. The whole transmission unit is contained within a water-resistant housing.
