KITO E 17.4 N – Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve for Silos and Solid Storage Tanks

The KITO VD/oP-… is a terminal breather valve designed for installation on silos and storage tanks containing powders and granular solids. Its function is to relieve excess pressure and vacuum, preventing unacceptable mechanical stresses on the vessel shell. All moving components are located outside the storage compartment, minimizing contamination risk and facilitating maintenance.

• Raw material silos in food, plastics, chemical, and construction material industries
• Storage tanks for powders and granulates
• Silo venting during filling, discharge, or thermal expansion/contraction
• Installations not requiring certified explosion-proof flame arresters

Sizes and Set Points

• Nominal sizes: DN 50 to DN 350
• Connections: PN 16 for smaller sizes, PN 10 for larger sizes
• ASME alternative sizes: 2" to 14"
• Vacuum set point: 3–50 mbar
• Pressure set point (indicative): 10–123 mbar, depending on DN
• Custom set points available after technical review

Construction Materials

Standard body in carbon steel, with stainless steel 1.4571 valve surfaces. Optional full stainless steel 1.4571 body and internal PTFE lining. Seat, shaft, and weights are stainless steel 1.4571.

Sealing and Operation

Standard seal is NBR, with options for Viton, PTFE, or EPDM. For pressure settings ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metallic sealing is used on the pressure pallet. Vacuum pallet is spring-loaded; pressure pallet operates with weights.

Connections and Flow Data

Flanged connection drilled per EN 1092-1 PN 40 Type B1, with option for ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. Flow rates based on air at 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K, calculated at 40% accumulation above set point, per DIN 4119.
