KITO VD/KS-IIA Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve for Fixed Roof Tanks

The KITO VD/KS-IIA-…-A / -K is a pressure and vacuum relief valve with integrated flame arrester, designed for installation on fixed roof storage tanks. It is mounted at the tank top to control venting and intake of vapor space, limiting overpressure, vacuum, vapor losses, and uncontrolled emissions.

Application Area

Certified for explosion group IIA products with MESG > 0.9 mm and maximum operating temperature of 60°C. Typical applications include storage of flammable liquids, solvents, and volatile products where combined tank breathing and flame transmission protection are required.

Dimensions and Settings

  • DN 50 / 80 / 100, PN 16
  • Alternatively ASME 2" / 3" / 4"
  • Vacuum setting: 3 mbar to 100 mbar, depending on DN
  • Pressure setting: up to 200 mbar with body extension
  • Flow rates calculated in air, with 40% accumulation above setpoint, per DIN 4119

Construction and Sealing

Body available in carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571. Seat, shaft, and weights are stainless steel 1.4571. Standard seal is NBR; options include Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal-to-metal. For pressure settings ≥100 mbar, PTFE or metal sealing is used on the pressure pallet.

Operating Mechanism

Vacuum pallet is spring-loaded; pressure pallet is weight-loaded. No electrical or pneumatic actuator required. The flame arrester element is fully replaceable for maintenance or inspection.

Type A vs. Type K

Type A features a PMMA weather cover. Type K has a stainless steel 1.4571 cover with folding mechanism and thermal element. Connections: EN 1092-1 Type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Standards and Certification

Supplied with type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and marked according to ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® VD/KS-IIA-…-A

KITO® VD/KS-IIA-…-K

  • Proof for products of explosion group IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Mainly used as equipment of fixed roof tanks for venting and inbreathing to prevent undue pressure resp. vacuum and undesired losses of vaporization, respectively undue emissions.
  • Installation on top of storage vessels.
  • Available with an explosion and endurance burning proofed condensate drain device.
