KITO DS/KG-BEH-6-IIB3 Pressure Relief Valve, Type C 7.4 N

The KITO DS/KG-BEH-6-IIB3 is an overpressure relief valve for storage tanks, equipped with an integrated flame arrester element for protection against deflagration and endurance burning. It is installed on tank vent lines to discharge excess pressure while minimizing vapor or gas losses, depending on the valve setpoint.

Application Range

Suitable for explosion group IIB3 media with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Typically mounted on tank roofs, it is used in conjunction with a separate vacuum relief valve.

Typical applications include:

  • storage tanks for flammable liquids and solvents,
  • chemical and petrochemical facilities,
  • tank vents requiring explosion protection,
  • systems requiring endurance burning resistance at vent outlets.

Dimensions and Settings

Available in DN 50, DN 80, and DN 100 with PN 16 flanges. Standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1; optionally ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF. Set pressure range: 2–60 mbar.

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction:

  • upper/lower body: carbon steel or optional stainless steel 1.4571,
  • valve seat: stainless steel 1.4571,
  • gasket: PTFE,
  • replaceable flame arrester element,
  • weather hood: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571, with folding mechanism and thermal element.

Valve Disc Configuration

Disc and sealing selection depends on set pressure:

  • 2–<3.5 mbar: aluminum disc, FEP & HD3822 seal.
  • ≥3.5–14 mbar: stainless steel disc, FEP & HD3822 seal.
  • >14–60 mbar: stainless steel disc, PTFE seal.

Flow Calculation

Flow curves are based on air at 1.29 kg/m³ and 273 K. Stated capacities are achieved with 20% accumulation above set pressure, per DIN 4119.

Standards and Certification

Type tested to EN ISO 16852 and CE marked in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® DS/KG-BEH-6-IIB3-…

  • As venting device for installation on storage tanks incorporating an explosion and endurance burning flame arrester element and a PRV to allow for the passage of excess pressure but prevent or minimize the loss of gas/vapours depending on valve adjustment.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Usually mounted on the top of the tank in conjunction with a vacuum relief valve (see KITO® VS/KS-IIB3-… (type sheet D 11 N)).
  • An explosion proof condensate drain is also available for this model at extra cost.
