Valfonta PRV45 Pressure Reducing Valve for Low Outlet Pressures

The Valfonta PRV45 is a self-actuating pressure reducing valve with diaphragm balancing. Although the commercial page lists it under pilot-operated reducers, the technical datasheet describes it as a self-actuating / direct action valve. The valve closes when the downstream pressure exceeds the set point.

Temperature and Media

For liquids and gases, the temperature range is -20 to +80°C. For steam, operation is up to 180°C. Suitable media include steam, compressed air, nitrogen, fuel-oil, water, neutral gases, and liquids Group 1 or Group 2.

Applications

The PRV45 is primarily used where low downstream pressure is required, especially in gases. Typical uses include chemical laboratories, sanitary installations, compressed air, sprinkler systems, small steam lines, and local pressure reductions in liquids or neutral gases.

Installation

The basic version has an internal control take-off; the external control line is optional and required in low-temperature steam applications. In steam, the actuator is installed downward, and a condensate pot is required when the temperature exceeds 120°C. The control line connection must be at least 6 × DN from the valve.
