Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - 94-58 & 694-58 Pressure Reducing & Surge Control Valve with Override | Cla-Val

Cla-Val 94-58 / 694-58

Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with surge control and override capability. Maintains downstream pressure at a setpoint and allows external override input to the pilot circuit for specific operational scenarios.

Operation

The reducing pilot regulates outlet pressure to the specified setpoint. The surge pilot responds to rapid downstream overpressure events, minimizing transient effects. Override function enables external control priority when alternative hydraulic response is required, such as remote actuation or emergency intervention.

Applications

  • potable water pressure zones
  • networks with rapid flow fluctuations
  • booster stations and discharge mains
  • industrial water circuits
  • installations requiring manual or remote override

Variants

  • 94-58: full port construction.
  • 694-58: reduced port, for lower flow rates or oversized pipelines.

Selection Criteria

Consider peak and minimum flow, upstream/downstream pressure, surge pilot setting, override method, available ΔP, cavitation risk, and transient response time. Media compatibility and sealing options (EPDM, NBR) should match process requirements.

FAQ

Difference from 94-01?
94-58 adds override capability to the reducing/surge control function.

Is electrical power required?
Standard operation is hydraulic. Power is only required if the override uses an electric actuator or solenoid.

Description

The Cla-Val Models 94-58 and 694-58 Combination Pressure Reducing and Surge Control Valve with Solenoid Override consist of a Cla-Val Hytrol main valve, reducing control and a solenoid control connected to the main valve. The solenoid override is used to close the valve and downstream pressure relief pilot. This valve automatically reduces higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure.

A typical application for this valve is to reduce high transmission line pressures to lower distribution system levels while opening and closing on command. The solenoid control feature can be activated by an electrical signal from a timer or programmer.
