Cla-Val Models 94-22 & 694-22 Combination Pressure Reducing and Surge Control Valves automatically reduce a higher inlet pressure to a pre-determined lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure. When downstream pressure rapidly exceeds the pressure setting of the pressure reducing control pilot, the surge pilot (CRL-60) will open quickly to prevent a rapid pressure rise downstream.
Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - 94-22 & 694-22 Pressure Reducing, Sustaining & Surge Valve | Cla-Val
Cla-Val 94-22 / 694-22
Hydraulic control valve for downstream pressure reduction, upstream pressure sustaining, and hydraulic surge relief. Integrates downstream pressure control, upstream sustaining, and surge relief in a single pilot-operated assembly. Suitable for potable water, process water, and compatible industrial fluids. Typical pressure classes: PN10–PN25, ANSI 150/300. Temperature range: 0–80°C (media dependent).
Operation
The reducing pilot maintains downstream setpoint pressure. The sustaining pilot limits valve opening if upstream pressure drops below its setpoint. The surge pilot actuates on rapid pressure rise, providing transient overpressure relief. All pilots are hydraulically actuated; no electrical supply required.
Applications
- Water distribution zones with main pipeline protection
- Low zone supply from high-pressure networks
- Pumping stations with transient flow events
- Industrial water supply networks
- Locations with rapid demand fluctuations
Variants
- 94-22: Full port design for standard flow rates.
- 694-22: Reduced port for lower flow rates or enhanced control stability.
Selection Criteria
Selection based on peak and minimum flow, upstream and downstream setpoints, surge pilot setting, available ΔP, transient duration, and cavitation risk. Media compatibility and sealing material (EPDM, NBR, FKM) should be verified per application. Maintenance access and leakage class per EN 12266-1 or API 598.
FAQ
Difference from 92-01?
92-01 provides reducing and sustaining only. 94-22 adds surge relief functionality for transient pressure events.
Is electrical power required?
No. All functions are hydraulically actuated via pilot circuit.
