Pressure management control valves
Water pressure management valves are used in potable water networks, industrial water distribution systems, and pumping stations where downstream pressure must be adjusted in a controlled manner according to demand, operating schedule, or signals from a remote control system. Unlike a fixed pressure reducing valve, pressure management assemblies operate with multiple setpoints or control curves so that pressure follows the actual hydraulic condition of the network.
This category includes CSA XLC 310/410-ND, ND-H, ND-P, XLC 310/410-T, and XLC 353/453 automatic hydraulically operated control valves. The ND versions function as downstream pressure reducing and sustaining valves with two preset, adjustable pressure values, typically for day and night operation. The ND-H changes setpoint as a function of flow within an adjustable range, while the ND-P incorporates a programmer with Bluetooth communication and EP68 enclosure protection for remote parameter setting.
The XLC 310/410-T regulates pressure according to a control curve generated by flow variation or by signals from a CSA controller, PLC, web interface, or SCADA system. It is applied where pressure management is required in district metered areas, distribution zones, or supply inlets, with feedback from sensors installed at critical points in the network. The XLC 353/453 is a solenoid-controlled step-by-step valve for controlled opening and closing, flow or pressure regulation, pump start/stop sequences with surge limitation, and level control based on consumption profile.
Available configurations include flanged connection to EN 1092-2, design and testing to EN 1074, body and cover in ductile iron GJS 450-10, stainless steel control circuit components, stainless steel seat, and pressure ratings PN 10, PN 16, or PN 25. Valve selection should consider minimum pilot operating pressure, peak and night flow conditions, cavitation risk, control stability, sensor location, and maintenance access to pilot lines, strainers, needle valves, and solenoids.
