Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - 94-01 & 694-01 Pressure Reducing & Surge Control Valve | Cla-Val

Cla-Val 94-01 / 694-01

Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with surge control pilot. Designed to reduce upstream pressure to a stable downstream setpoint and activate the surge pilot if downstream pressure rises rapidly above the set value.

Operation

The reducing pilot maintains downstream pressure regulation. In the event of a rapid downstream pressure increase, the CRL / CRL-60 surge pilot opens quickly to mitigate transient pressure waves.

Applications

  • Pressure zoning in municipal water distribution networks
  • Downstream protection of pipelines and instrumentation
  • Systems with rapid flow rate fluctuations
  • Pumping stations and discharge mains
  • Industrial water circuits

Variants

  • 94-01: Full port construction
  • 694-01: Reduced port for lower flow rates or improved control in oversized pipelines

Construction

  • Connection: Flanged
  • Standard: ANSI
  • Pressure classes: 150 lbs, 300 lbs
  • Materials: Brass, ASTM A216 WCB, ductile iron

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on peak and minimum flow rates, upstream/downstream pressure, surge pilot setpoint, flow velocity, equipment closure time, and cavitation risk.

FAQ

How does it differ from the 90-01?
The 90-01 regulates only downstream pressure. The 94-01 / 694-01 adds surge control for rapid downstream overpressure events.

Is electrical power required?
No. Operation is fully hydraulic via the pilot circuit.

Description

The Cla-Val Models 94-01 and 694-01 Combination Pressure Reducing and Surge Control Valves automatically reduce higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure. When downstream pressure rapidly exceeds the pressure setting of the pressure reducing control pilot, the surge pilot (CRL/CRL-60) will open quickly to prevent a rapid pressure rise downstream (i.e. surge condition).
