Cla-Val 93-01 / 693-01

Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with solenoid-actuated shut-off. Maintains stable downstream pressure and enables remote isolation via solenoid control.

Operation

The reducing pilot regulates downstream pressure. If downstream pressure exceeds the setpoint, the main valve throttles or closes. Electrical actuation of the solenoid forces the valve to closed position regardless of demand. Pressure regulation is hydraulic; solenoid is for remote shut-off only.

Applications

  • pressure zoning in municipal water networks
  • remote isolation via PLC/SCADA integration
  • industrial water supply systems
  • downstream pipeline and equipment protection
  • networks requiring automatic flow interruption

Variants

  • 93-01: full port construction.
  • 693-01: reduced port for lower flow rates or improved control stability.

Selection Criteria

Consider peak and minimum flow, upstream/downstream pressure, reduction ratio, solenoid voltage, fail position, available pilot circuit pressure, and cavitation risk. Specify media compatibility, pressure class, and required certifications (e.g. NSF, WRAS).

FAQ

Is this an electric PRV?
No. Pressure reduction is hydraulic. The solenoid is used for remote shut-off only.

Is power required for pressure regulation?
No. Power is only needed for solenoid operation.

Description

The Cla-Val Models 93-01 and 693-01 Combination Pressure Reducing and Solenoid Shut-Off Valves automatically reduce higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure. Use this valve to reduce high transmission line pressures to lower distribution system levels, while opening and closing on command. The solenoid control feature can be activated by an electrical signal from a timer or programmer.

In fire service applications, the 93-01/693-01 can be installed in a distribution line where there is a need to close the valve on the starting of a fire pump. The solenoid control is activated on the pump start-up and closes the valve.
