The Cla-Val Model 90-99 Pressure Reducing Valve with Low Flow By-Pass automatically reduces a higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of the changing flow rate. The low flow by-pass capability is achieved by using a 2” grooved end 90-01 Pressure Reducing Valve as an integral part of the main valve. This compact design saves space and makes for an easier installation process.
Cla-Val 90-99
Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with integrated low-flow bypass. Reduces higher upstream pressure to a stable, lower downstream setpoint, independent of flow fluctuations within sizing limits.
Operation
The main valve operates as a pilot-operated PRV. Low-flow bypass is achieved via an integrated Cla-Val 90-01 2” grooved end valve, maintaining downstream pressure stability during minimal demand periods.
Applications
- Potable water distribution networks with wide demand variation
- Nighttime low-flow conditions
- Pressure zones with low minimum consumption
- Industrial water supply systems
- Downstream protection of pipelines, instrumentation, and process equipment
Construction
- Connection: Flanged
- Standard: ANSI
- Pressure classes: 150 lbs, 300 lbs
- Materials: Brass, ASTM A216 WCB, ductile iron
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on peak and minimum flow, upstream pressure, required downstream pressure, reduction ratio, cavitation risk, and adequacy of bypass port sizing. The 90-99 is specified where the main PRV would operate unstably at very low demand.
FAQ
How does it differ from the 90-48?
The 90-99 incorporates an internal 90-01 2” valve as a low-flow bypass.
Is electrical power required?
No. Operation is fully hydraulic via the pilot circuit.
