The Cla-Val Model 90-48 and 690-48 Pressure Reducing Valves are equipped with low flow by-pass to automatically reduce higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing the flow rate. The low flow by-pass capability is achieved by using the Cla-Val Model CRD-L Direct Acting Pressure Reducing Valve as an integral part of the main valve. By doing this, space is saved and installation and maintenance become much easier.
Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - 90-48 & 690-48 Pressure Reducing Valve with Low Flow Bypass | Cla-Val
Cla-Val 90-48 / 690-48
Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with integrated low-flow bypass. Reduces upstream pressure to a stable downstream setpoint, maintaining control even when demand drops below the main valve’s effective control range.
Operation
The main valve is pilot-operated via a pressure reducing pilot. For low flow conditions, an integrated bypass assembly with Cla-Val CRD-L direct acting pressure reducing valve is engaged, minimizing hunting, frequent minor movements, and seat wear.
Applications
- Potable water networks with wide demand fluctuations
- Nighttime low flow conditions
- Pressure zones with minimal base consumption
- Downstream pipeline and instrumentation protection
- Industrial water distribution systems
Variants
- 90-48: Full port configuration.
- 690-48: Reduced port for lower flows or oversized pipelines.
Construction
- Connection: Flanged
- Standard: ANSI
- Pressure classes: 150 lbs, 300 lbs
- Materials: Bronze, ASTM A216 WCB, ductile iron
Selection Criteria
Consider peak and minimum flow, upstream/downstream pressure, reduction ratio, cavitation risk, and low-flow bypass adjustment.
FAQ
How does it differ from 90-01?
The 90-48 includes a low-flow bypass for stable operation at very low demand.
Is electrical power required?
No. Operation is fully hydraulic.
