Fival NX PN40 – Gauge Glass Isolation Valves for Level Indicators

The Fival NX PN40 series comprises upper and lower isolation valves for visual level gauges on steam boilers, pressure vessels, and auxiliary water or condensate circuits. These valves enable isolation of the gauge glass from the vessel, safe draining of the column, and facilitate maintenance on glass, gaskets, or packing assemblies.

NX Construction

The NX connection utilizes a plain tube and compression gland between the valve and the level indicator. The assembly includes upper and lower valves, handwheels, gland packings, sealing rings, and a drain valve at the bottom.

Materials and Sealing

  • Body: A105N (carbon steel) or F316L (stainless steel)
  • Bolting: B7 (alloy steel) or B8 (stainless steel)
  • Hex Nuts: 2H or Gr.8
  • Gaskets: graphite and asbestos-free options
  • Connection Tube: carbon or stainless steel
  • Handwheels: carbon steel with Nylon 66 cover
  • Optional: PTFE sealing rings

Process Connections

Technical drawings specify connections via flanges (UNI/DIN PN 10–16–25–40), flanges (ANSI 150RF, 300RF, 600RF-RJ, 900–1500 RF/RJ), threaded (NPT/BSP male or female), and socket weld.

Applications

  • Steam boiler gauge glasses
  • Condensate tanks
  • Feedwater tanks
  • Auxiliary pressure vessels
  • Lines requiring local level indication with isolation capability

Operational Considerations

Suitable for water, steam, and condensate service up to PN40 pressure class. Material selection should consider media compatibility and temperature. Valve selection must align with process pressure, temperature, and connection standards.

Maintenance

Inspection focuses on gland leakage, seal wear, handwheel operation, drain valve condition, and connection tube corrosion. For steam applications, verify correct isolation and draining sequence before glass replacement. Regular maintenance ensures operational safety and process integrity.
