Miyawaki ER116 – Inverted Bucket Steam Trap
The Miyawaki ER116 is a mechanical inverted bucket steam trap made from ductile cast iron FCD450, designed for medium to large condensate loads in steam networks. It employs a dual steam separation mechanism with a U-shaped duct and inverted bucket, allowing mechanical discharge without an external actuator.

Operation and Selection
The valve opens when condensate reduces the buoyancy of the bucket and closes when steam enters the body. A small vent hole at the top of the bucket removes hot air and non-condensable gases, minimizing air locking and steam locking. The SCCV System involves a self-centering closing valve.
Applications
Suitable for heat exchangers, industrial processes, food processing, dyeing, cleaning facilities, and HVAC. It can be used in condensate recovery with backpressure up to 90% of upstream pressure, provided check valves and proper hydraulic layout are implemented.
Installation and Maintenance
Installation is in horizontal flow, with the nameplate on the top side and direction according to the body arrow. The steam trap should be placed lower than the condensate-producing equipment; if not feasible, a lift fitting is required. Maintenance space of over 200 mm is necessary, and line blow-off before startup is recommended.
