Gefran 650L Limit Indicator Unit
The Gefran 650L is a 48×48 mm (1/16 DIN) alarm limit indicator designed for independent safety limit monitoring in industrial process environments. It is not a PID controller. The alarm output remains latched after a limit violation and requires manual reset via front panel key, digital input, or serial communication.
Measurement Inputs
Universal input supports thermocouples J, K, R, S, T, C, D, B, E, L, U, G, N, Pt20Rh-Pt40Rh, RTD Pt100/JPt100, and linear signals 0–60 mV, 0–1 V, 0–5 V, 0–10 V, 0/4–20 mA. Scaling range is -1999 to 9999 with decimal point. Sampling time selectable at 60 or 120 ms.
Outputs and Alarm Logic
Up to 4 alarm functions assignable to outputs. Relay outputs are NO, rated 5 A / 250 Vac. Optional isolated analog retransmission 0–10 V, 0–20 mA, or 4–20 mA, 12-bit resolution. Alarms configurable as maximum, minimum, symmetric, absolute, or relative, with memory, startup inhibit, and reset via key or contact.
Diagnostics and Maintenance
LCD displays PV, SV, and rolling diagnostic messages. Unit detects sensor open/short circuit and provides over-limit and alarm time counters, supporting preventive maintenance for furnaces, thermal zones, or safety loops. Front panel replacement possible without disconnecting wiring.
Typical Applications
- Independent high-limit alarm in industrial furnaces
- Thermal zone protection in extruders and presses
- Temperature over/under alarms from TC or RTD
- PV retransmission to PLC, recorder, or SCADA
- Critical limit monitoring with manual operator confirmation
Operating Conditions and Standards
Power supply 100–240 Vac/Vdc or 20–27 Vac/Vdc, max consumption 5 W, front panel IP65, operating range -10…+55 °C. UKCA declaration references EN 63000:2018, EN 61326-1:2013, and EN 61010-1:2010.
