Gefran 40T96 Process Indicator & Alarm Unit
The Gefran 40T96 is a 96×48 mm (1/8 DIN) process indicator and alarm unit for temperature and linear process signals. It is not a PID controller; its primary use is local PV display, limit monitoring, and signaling to PLCs, relay logic, or supervisory systems. The front panel is rated IP65, with three keys and a 3- or 4-digit LED display.
Measurement Inputs
Input type is selectable from the front panel. Supported sensors include thermocouples J, K, R, S, T, B, E, N, L-GOST, U, G, D, C; RTD Pt100/JPt100 (2- or 3-wire); PTC/NTC; and linear signals 60 mV, 1 V, 5 V, 10 V, and 20 mA. Display range is configurable from -1999…9999 or -999…999, depending on input type.
Accuracy and Sampling Time
Accuracy is 0.2% of full scale at 25 °C. Sampling time is 120 ms for full resolution, adjustable to 60, 30, or 15 ms for linear inputs where faster alarm response is required.
Outputs and Alarm Functions
Up to four outputs are available per configuration: relay (5 A / 250 Vac) or logic (0…11 Vdc). Output 1 can be optionally specified as a triac (20…240 Vac / 3 A). The digital input (24 Vdc / 5 mA) is used for reset latch, hold, flash, zero, and peak value selection.
Retransmission and Communication
Analog retransmission (0…10 V or 0/4…20 mA) is available for transferring measured values to PLCs, recorders, or SCADA. Optional isolated RS485 supports GEFRAN CENCAL and Modbus RTU protocols.
Typical Applications
- High/low temperature alarms in furnaces and thermal zones
- Indication of 4…20 mA or 0…10 V from transmitters
- Local monitoring in extruders, test benches, and production lines
- PV retransmission to supervisory systems
- Process protection with latched alarms and external reset
Operating Conditions and Standards
Power supply: 100…240 Vac/dc or 11…27 Vac/dc. Operating temperature: 0…50 °C; storage: -20…70 °C; humidity: 20…85% non-condensing. UKCA declaration references EN 63000:2018, EN 61326-1:2013, and EN 61010-1:2010.
