The Cla-Val Model 60-BY Booster Pump Control valve is a pilot-operated valve designed for installation on the discharge of booster pumps to eliminate pipeline surges caused by the starting and stopping of the pump. The CSM11-HC solenoid valve controls the valve operation.
Cla-Val 60-BY / 660-BY – Booster Pump Control Valve
The Cla-Val 60-BY / 660-BY is a pilot-operated valve designed for installation on the discharge side of booster pumps. It utilizes a high-capacity CSM11-HC solenoid pilot for controlled opening/closing and to limit hydraulic transients during pump start and stop sequences.
Operating Sequence
Pump startup occurs with the valve in the closed position. Upon energizing the solenoid, the valve opens gradually, allowing line pressure to increase in a controlled manner. During shutdown, the solenoid de-energizes, the valve closes at a controlled rate, and the X105LCW limit switch releases the pump starter only after the valve is fully closed.

Applications
Suitable for water supply pump stations, multiple booster pump systems, industrial water networks, and lines requiring hydraulic pump control with electrical interlock. For installations with risk of power failure, integration with surge anticipator valves (52-03 / 652-03) is recommended.
Selection Criteria
Valve selection is based on pump flow rate, allowable pressure loss, pressure class, trim material, and solenoid voltage. For applications with pressures below 10 psi, engineering review is required.
