Cla-Val 60-19 / 660-19 – Booster Pump Control Valve

The Cla-Val 60-19 / 660-19 is a pilot-operated valve designed for discharge control in large booster pump stations. It mitigates hydraulic transients during pump start-up and shutdown by providing a controlled open/close sequence, reducing the risk of water hammer and pressure surges.

Operation

The pump starts with the valve in the closed position. Upon solenoid activation, the valve opens gradually, allowing line pressure to increase in a controlled manner. During shutdown, the solenoid deactivates, and the valve closes at an adjustable rate. A limit switch disconnects the pump once the valve is fully closed, preventing reverse flow and pressure spikes.

Selection and Applications

Applicable for water supply pump stations, distribution networks, industrial water systems, and high-flow booster stations. Valve sizing should be based on pump flow and acceptable pressure loss. Oversizing is not recommended, as it reduces control accuracy during transient events.
