Valvosider Steam Globe Valve ASME with Bolted Bonnet

The Valvosider ASME is a straight-flow globe valve designed for isolation and controlled throttling in steam, hot water, condensate, gas, and industrial fluid lines. It features a bolted bonnet, outside screw & yoke, rising stem, rising handwheel, and swivel plug disc, suitable for installations requiring access to the stuffing box, bonnet gasket, and trim.

Pressure Classes and Sizes

  • Class 150, Fig. 460: 2"–24"
  • Class 300, Fig. 461: 2"–20"
  • Class 600, Fig. 462: 2"–16"
  • Class 900, Fig. 463: 2"–12"
  • Class 1500, Fig. 464: 2"–12"

The product page specifies flanged connections and body materials ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A352 LCB, ASTM A217 WC6/C5/C12, and ASTM A351 CF8/CF8C/CF8M/CF3M.

Standards and Testing

Design is based on BS 1873, ASME B16.34, and API 623. Face-to-face dimensions comply with ASME B16.10, flanges with ASME B16.5, butt weld ends with ASME B16.25, testing with API 598 / EN 12266, and marking with MSS-SP 25. Certificates EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 and compliance CE-PED are available.

Sealing and Trim

The bonnet gasket is spiral wound reinforced graphite or RTJ, while the packing consists of graphite rings and wiper rings. Seat surfaces are F6A or stainless steel, depending on body material, with options for Stellite, Monel, Hastelloy, or other materials upon request.

Selection and Installation

Selection is based on pressure-temperature rating, DN, class, body material, fluid compatibility, Δp, and shut-off or throttling requirements. For high pressure under the disc, the brochure recommends using a gear operator or installation with pressure above the disc and bypass.

Actuation Options

Available options include ISO 5210 top flange, gear operator, chain wheel, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuator, limit switches, locking/interlock, parabolic disc, stop-check disc, live-loaded packing, extended stuffing box, and drain plug.

FAQ

Is it a control valve?

The primary use is isolation. For throttling, a parabolic disc and control of velocity, noise, cavitation, and seat wear are required.

When to choose Class 900 or 1500?

When steam or process conditions exceed the allowable limits of Class 150/300/600 for the respective body material.
