KITO G 27.0 N – Bidirectional In-Line Detonation Flame Arrester with Flanged Connections

The KITO® RG-Det4-IIB3-…-1.2 / -T / -TT is a bidirectional in-line detonation flame arrester with flanged connections, designed for the protection of vessels and process components against stable detonation in piping systems handling flammable gases, vapors, or liquids capable of forming explosive atmospheres. Tested and certified as a detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion Groups: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max Operating Pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max Operating Temperature: 60 °C
  • Endurance Burn Resistance: BT ≤ 6.0 min
  • Installation: Horizontal or vertical piping, unrestricted orientation

Connections and Dimensions

Covers DN 15 to DN 50. Sizes DN 15–DN 40 are supplied in PN 40, DN 50 in PN 16. Standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1; optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF available.

Thermal Monitoring

Variants -T and -TT include a PT100 sensor (¼" connection, stainless steel 1.4571). For stabilized burning detection, a sensor must be installed on each potentially exposed side. PT100 is used for alarm/interlock, not as an actuator.

Materials of Construction

  • Body: Carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • KITO element: Fully replaceable
  • Shell/mesh: 1.4301 / 1.4310 or 1.4571 / 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: A2 or A4

Application Selection

The G 27.0 N is the flanged variant of G 27 for media up to IIB3. Selection should consider MESG, DN, flow rate, pressure drop, gas density, sealing materials, and thermal monitoring requirements. Flow curves are based on air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K.

Description

KITO® RG-Det4-IIB3-…-1.2

KITO® RG-Det4-IIB3-…-1.2-T (-TT)

-design with flange connection-

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 6.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a thermocouple must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
