KITO G 24.1 N – Bidirectional In-Line Detonation Flame Arrester

The KITO® CFA-Det4-IIB3-…/…-1.2 is a bidirectional in-line detonation flame arrester designed for piping systems conveying flammable gases or vapors of flammable liquids. It is intended for the protection of vessels and equipment against stable explosions and is tested as a detonation flame arrester type 4.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion groups: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Protection function: bidirectional, suitable where ignition may originate from either side of the line

Thermal Monitoring and Condensate Drainage

Variants -T and -TT are equipped with one or two PT100 sensors. With a single PT100, the sensor should be installed on the body side where fire risk is anticipated. The body includes two drain plugs for condensate removal, relevant for solvent vapor lines or vapor recovery systems.

Dimensions and Connections

Range covers NG 150 to NG 800 with connections DN 50 to DN 400. DN 50–150 are supplied in PN 16, DN 200–400 in PN 10. Flanges available as EN 1092-1 type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Materials and Sealing

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • KITO element: fully replaceable
  • Shell: galvanized steel up to NG 400 or stainless 1.4571 / 1.4581
  • Mesh: stainless 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: galvanized steel or A2

Application Selection

G 24.1 N is selected for bidirectional detonation protection in media up to IIB3, where condensate drainage is required. Selection must consider MESG, DN, pressure drop, operating pressure/temperature, gas density, and gasket compatibility. Flow curves are based on air ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K.

Description

KITO® CFA-Det4-IIB3-…/…-1.2

KITO® CFA-Det4-IIB3-…/…-1.2-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against stable detonation of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Tested and approved as detonation flame arrester type 4.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The installation of the detonation flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • Provided with one or two temperature sensors (PT 100) the armature is certified against short time burning from one or both sides.
  • If only one thermal sensor is attached, it must be installed into that part of the body from which a fire is expected.
  • Equipped with two head pipes plugs for draining condensate.
